Roster Guidelines

UpdatedSaturday June 25, 2022 byRye Brook Youth Soccer.

The Board is always looking at the long-term growth and health of the Rye Brook Youth Soccer program.  Rye Brook Youth Soccer is a local club program and we want to encourage maximum participation while still maintaining a competitive environment.  As our teams progress from U8 all the way through middle school and high school, a certain amount of attrition inevitably takes place. We want to create as many opportunities as we can to keep kids in the program and protect the long-term viability of many of our younger teams and players.  The below guildlines may be modified by the board on a team-by-team basis to ensure the overall health of that team and age group.

U8 – We participate in a Lower-Westchester-only division to help minimize travel.  Roster sizes are more flexible and are determined by the Board each year.

U9 and U10  - Teams may carry up to 14 players on a team.  If the number of registrations exceeds 14 players, we may continue to allow up to 3 Developmental Players per team.  If we have sufficient registration we will have two teams.

  • Developmental players are identified through the annual evaluation process
  • Developmental players may withdraw from the program after the evaluation process is completed and receive a full refund
  • Developmental Players would participate in practices and be eligible to participate in clinics
  • Developmental Players would not be eligible for games, per WYSL roster limits
  • Developmental Player Fee would be 1/2 the normal fee
  • Developmental Players may withdraw between the Fall and Spring season and receive a partial refund

U11 and U12 - Teams may carry a maximum of 16 to 18 players.  If the number of registrations is more than can be effectively supported with one team, we may continue to allow additional developmental players.  If we have sufficient registration we will have two teams.
